2 Years Old

It is so difficult to put into words how much this little boy means to me. He is my baby, my little angel. Time does go so quickly and kids really do grow up so fast. The past two years seemed to have breezed by because Marcus has been such a fabulous baby/little guy. He is so easy. I’m not sure there is a better way to explain his demeanor and personality. It is so easy to get this little boy to smile, and oh, that smile. It just melts your heart.

Milestones
  • Answers questions that we ask him. Daddy noticed that we are able to understand his needs a lot better now that he is answering questions in the way he wants. Yes/No questions work the best, but he can answer other things like “What do you want?” and he’ll say “Milk”.
  • There is lots of coloring and artwork going on at our house and Marcus enjoys it a lot.
  • Still loves his movies and TV. His current favorites are Toy Story and “Bob Builder” as he calls it. He knows that our iPhones and iPad mean movies. He is even able to scroll through the selections and pick what he wants. It is funny to watch him tap the screen when things are not working out for him. Mad tapping goes on until he gets frustrated and asks, “Help.”
  • He is starting to play more with Owen instead of just alongside of him. The two definitely like to go at it in terms of jumping on and pushing each other.
  • Marcus seems to be understanding more and more when we talk, even if we do not necessarily say things directly to him. He can pick up on when we are about to leave the house and will stand at the door or look for his shoes.
  • At daycare, they tell me that Marcus is quite the helper. He loves to help pass out art supplies or food. I have even heard the ladies mention that “Marcus runs our classroom” in a sweet, endearing way.
  • He is very much into puzzles. While he can do the single shape puzzles fairly well on his own, he is always picking the puzzles that are not really age appropriate for him. He loves a particular Thomas the Train jigsaw floor puzzle that we have. He picks out all the pieces with Thomas on them and hands them to Daddy or me to put into place. He can put a single piece in place with our help, but he is not quite self-sufficient with them yet.
  • Have I ever mentioned that Marcus rarely cries? It’s true. He does not even cry when he wakes up, he just jumps around in his crib until someone hears him. He’s so happy first thing in the morning. Love that!

23 Months

Marcus is such a joy. Not only is he endless, fun entertainment, but he also inspires delight, invokes so much love and makes you feel crazy happy in his presence. He truly is a gift. I always want him close, to make him smile, and try to express how amazing his is.

Milestones:
  • Had his very first dentist appointment and he teeth look good. Marcus seems to enjoy brushing his teeth. If you tell him it’s time to brush his teeth, he happily goes upstairs, climbs on the toilet and goes about brushing.
  • Puts a lid back on a marker.
  • Thanks to his big brother, he is interested in letters and can actually sing part of the alphabets. We play this game “Guess the the Letter” in the bathtub where I ask the boys to name the foam letter that I pull out of a basket. Marcus loves it though he thinks every letter is a B or D.
  • Sort of saying Owen’s name. You would think that he’d say Owie or O, but he’s saying more of a Win word.
  • Likes to climb onto things…especially people! I have to pull him off of Owen sometimes because he can get a little too aggressive.
  • Loves playing with legos, trains and watching Daddy play Mario Galaxy.
  • Will stop what he’s doing and come give Mommy a kiss and a hug if I ask for it. For kisses, he makes this adorable Mmmmuuua sound. He melts my heart.

Spidey II

Spider man is huge in our house right now. Marcus decided that he needed to try on Owen's spider man costume. He was so thrilled to become Spidey.

I'm not sure how he could see, but there was no stopping Spidey II.

I don't think there is anything better than seeing my boys interested in books.

Little Sneak

Duncan Donuts are a special treat in our house. They certainly are a favorite among the boys and Marcus got caught sneaking an extra one!

Super Heros Coloring

Owen and Marcus decided to run around in their super hero capes that Aunt Cat made them. When all the running wore them out they immediately got down to buiness coloring. It is wonderful when they play together. Yeah for brothers!

Hide-n-Seek

Marcus enjoys playing hide-n-seek, and his favorite place to hide is in the empty cabinet of our china buffet. He gets very excited about hiding that he reveals himself before you get a chance to seek him out.

First Dental Visit

Marcus had his first dentist visit with Dr. Coppe. He watched Owen get his teeth cleaned, then got into the chair and decided it wasn't for him. I ended up sitting in the chair and holding him when he got his teeth checked out and brushed. Hopefully next time he'll be more comfortable on his own.

Jump-On-In

We went to Danya's birthday party where we had a great time in all the bouncy houses and slides. Marcus didn't stop smiling the entire time!

Little Woodworkers

We have been going to the kids workshop at Home Depot this winter, which is offered once a month. They have little building projects that the boys seem to enjoy. Most of the time, they are a little too complex for Marcus, but Owen really likes all the hammering and gluing.

My Marcus

I'm always caught saying "My Marcus" because I just can't believe this cute, fun, little guy is mine. Those cheeks are so kissable, and I love to see him smile. He warms my heart and makes me burst with pride. My Marcus.

Subway Ride

We made a trip into Cambridge and decided to jump on the subway for a quick lunch downtown. Marcus was super thrilled with the subway ride. Anything train like has Marcus written all over it.

22 Months Old

I'm not sure I'm allowed to call Marcus little any more. He is getting so big, and it bursting with personality. He is vocal about his wants, likes and dislikes. He has so much energy that it is hard to keep up at times. But he is pefect in every way possible. I wish he could stay my little boy forever.

22 Month Milestones:
  • Knows a lot of his animal sounds. He is so cute when you ask him what sound a sheep makes and he says “Baaaaa”.
  • Will say “I see…” and usually tell us something that we can’t always make out. His speech is coming. Very slowly coming. If I ask him to try and say a word, he tries. Many times it is understandable. But he is still figuring out how to put it all together. Not talking in sentences at all. He has very few phrases as well. He understands so much more than he can say.
  • Marcus loves to read or just look at books. You can often catch him looking at a book and pretending to read it to himself. Super cute. He loves reading books that have peek-a-boo type flap pages. He loves an interactive story.
  • Hide and Seek lends lots of enjoyment for Marcus. His favorite place to hide is in our laundry hamper. It is hilarious how he’ll help take all the clothes out and sit quietly in there until he is found.
  • Is doing a great job eating with a spoon and fork on his own.
  • Marcus is so cute when he starts to blow on his food that I tell him might be a little hot.

Those Boots!

Marcus adores these boots and insists on putting them on all the time. They are still a bit big for him, but he doesn't seem to mind. Hearing him say "boots" is just the cutest thing.

Snow Removal

We got some snow so the boys wanted to help Daddy shovel the drive. Marcus was a bit adamant that he didn't want to wear gloves. I tried mittens, gloves, but what he ended up liking was...

Mommy's gloves! And then he decided that his mower was the perfect substitute for a snow blower. So funny!

Good Habits

Marcus is becoming more and more independent.  He wants to brush his teeth all by himself (and this includes turning the water on and off!)
